Loving the Sweet Pea DSP

Here’s a card I made for a friend’s birthday to share with you.  I just love the new Sweet Pea paper pack – it’s loaded with adorable images/colors for cardmaking and scrapping.  (DSP is short for Designer Series Paper.  I think we demonstrators use that term a lot!).  Here I let the paper steal the show – aren’t those flowers so cute?  It was quick by adding a rub-on for the sentiment.

The card base is from a Sizzix Bigz XL die, unfortunately not sold by SU!.  It was a gift from a good friend and I love it.  I found that the ribbon/button was coming off, even when I used the sticky strip (I know, weird…right?).  So I used crystal effects and it worked out great.  Card measures 4 1/4″ x 5 3/4″.  Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a great day!

{Happy Birthday friend ingredients}

Paper: Rose Red & Whisper White card stock, Sweet Pea DSP

Accessories: scallop trim border punch (free w/ $50 order during SAB), Chocolate Chip 1″ double-stitched grosgrain ribbon, Playground button, hemp twine, Chit Chat rub-on, crystal effects, Scallop Card Bigz XL die & Big Shot by Sizzix

Notice:  Lots of non-Stampin’ Up! on this post.

My husband bought me the Silhouette SD for Christmas.  It’s a die cutting machine that cuts images from the computer.  I used it to make these cards for a card order.  This customer enjoys giving cards that are inspirational and uplifting.  Here are two I made that I particularly like.  I cut out the house shapes on my Silhouette, then attached a notecard to the back, using the same card stock.  (I saw this done on Nicole’s blog and thought it was adorable.)  I also used the Silhouette to cut out the word “dream”.  I totally love doing that and like the fact that you can type in any word you want, in this case the word “dream”.  The font is LD Buttercream.

Because it’s a card order, I did use a lot of non Stampin’ Up! items – stuff I’ve had for a long time – before becoming a demonstrator.  That way I use up some of my stash and feel good about having bought it in the first place!  If you have any questions about any of the items I used that are not listed below, please feel free to ask!  Come back later this weekend for a “sweet” Stampin’ Up! card.  Then one day soon I’ll have to show you what I’ve done to my car w/ the new Stampin’ Up! vinyl…love!  Thanks for stopping by today!

This month I was just so excited to use some of the new items from the Occasions Mini catalog and SAB catalog, that I just couldn’t stop making projects for stamp club!  And I just couldn’t decide which Valentine’s project to do, so we did both!  Here’s the first one:

I was totally inspired by Hilary’s projects on this one!  This is a Ghirardelli chocolate holder, as you can see from the inside.  SO easy to make.  Just cut your card stock to 3 1/2″ x 9 3/4″, and score each end at 3 1/4″.  Cut off the last section enough to where your chocolate will fit (eyeball it from here – it’s ok!).  Use sticky strip to secure the side and bottom.  Edited to add:  We used the Tombo Multi Purpose glue instead of sticky strip and it works great!  I LOVE the new clear mount stamp for this project because I could see exactly where to stamp the line of love hearts at the bottom!

For the front I used paper from the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin’ kit, as it’s Very Vanilla & Real Red.  No one will ever know the other side has snowflakes on it!  Don’t forget about all the papers you have in your stash.  Make the cute border with your free SAB border punch, and add some of my favorite ribbon.  For the tag, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla and used the tag punch to transform it into a…you guessed it…TAG!  I used a cream colored button from my stash and tied it with the hemp twine (boy do I go through a lot of this stuff!).  Oh!  back up a bit…stamp the sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink, then lightly sponge Creamy Caramel over the entire tag and sides.  Finish distressing it with the color spritzer tool and a Chocolate Chip marker.  Ok, now stamp the awesome, and sometimes manly, woodgrain heart with Chocolate Chip CRAFT ink and emboss with clear embossing powder.  Cut out.  Yes, I said, “cut out”.  It’s just one little heart, ok?

Don’t forget – from now until February 28th, Stampin’ Up! is donating $2 from the sale of each set of I {heart} hearts to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund.  What a great cause!

Next we have this card.  I think this stamp set, also from the Occasions Mini, is too cute.  And it’s just the one stamp so it’s a good value!  I wanted the card to be on the manlier side, so went with appropriate colors, and no bows.  The card is a weird size – I think because it’s the size of the piece of Elegant Eggplant I had already sitting around and went with it.  It’s 3 1/2″ x 6 1/4″.  My stamp club girls made their card slightly smaller – at 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.  It turned out just as cute!  I just love that little heart embosslit, also from the mini!

And last, but not least is the project I was most excited about.  True story: When I got the Occasions Mini catalog way back in… I don’t know…November, I think, I wanted that bird chipboard book so badly ’cause I thought I’d get 8 cute birds to use on cards.  WRONG!  When I got the item, I was so disappointed that it was huge!  There’s no way you could put one of those birds on a card.  I was going to send it back and exchange it.  But the same week I received our monthly magazine from Stampin’ Up! (my fave!) and saw this project in it…and fell in love!  I made mine for my daughter to hang on her door.  She will get to hang it there now that stamp club is over, lol!

It was soooo easy to make!  Trace your bird onto card stock and cut out, stamp Medallion stamp in VersaMark ink, then stamp whatever you like along the bottom.  TIP:  Trace the bottom of the bird onto a piece of scrap paper, then stamp your name on that first, so you can decide if you like the placement of the letters, before committing to your final project.  Apply some felt flower pieces using sticky strip, tie a piece of satin ribbon and you are done!  I can see stamping “baby”, “sweet baby”, “baby sleeping”, etc. on one.  Or the name of your child’s teacher…wouldn’t that be a great gift for her to hang on her door?!  P.S.  You really have to squint to see the Medallion stamp in this photo.  Clicking it larger will help, but trust me, it’s there.  It just didn’t photograph well.

Whew!  That’s a lot for one post, isn’t it?  Take it all in, girls…I do this for you!  Hee!  Thanks to all of you for stopping by, and thanks for your sweet comments, too!!

Stampin′ Up! demonstrators have a long history of making a difference in the lives of others–especially when disaster strikes and the need is greatest. So it was not surprising that so many demonstrators have contacted us in the past week asking what the plan is for helping to provide relief for those who continue to suffer from the effects of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.

Here is the plan:

From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set ordered will be donated to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

Product Name Item # Price
I {Heart} Hearts – clear-mount  (block D recommended) 118571    $18.95
I {Heart} Hearts – wood-mount  117010    $26.95

I love that SU! chose a fabulous set – one that is universal and adorable, too!  If you would like to order this set, please click here. Thank you! You can see the card I made using this set on on my last post, and here it is below:

I copied this card I saw in our monthly magazine to demonstrators.  I love the clean and simple look of this card, as well as the fresh color choices.  I would not have put these colors together on my own, but love the result.  I made my own card, using the retired Loop to Loop rub-on and my own random button.  Otherwise, it’s exactly the same as the one shown by fellow demonstrator, Tessa Wise.

Thanks for stopping by today – come back soon for my stamp club projects for January!

And here’s the box

Sorry guys – I know it’s been so long since I last posted.  I’ve got a lot going on right now and just haven’t been able to properly keep up the blog.  Here’s the box I made for the card set from previous posts (using the Fox & Friends stamp set) to go into.  I made this with the Fancy Favor die and just juiced it up a bit with the adorable patterned paper in the Sweet Pea collection, and a bit of ribbon.  Too easy!  Wouldn’t this make a cute gift for someone?

Well, thanks for stopping by, and I’ll try to be more timely in posting.  I do have several projects to show you, but photographing them in this dang dreary weather is daunting, to say the least.  Boy do I miss the sun!  Ok, I’m off for now…take care!

Happy New Year!!

I cannot believe it’s a new year…a new decade, even!  So I thought I’d share with you a new card.  I was totally inspired by this card.  I loved it so much.  My card is 4 1/4″ square.  I made the circle with the Coluzzle and I used a new stamp set in the soon-to-be-available Occasions Mini, called Vintage Vogue.  It’s so elegant and feminine.  I also used the new border punch, which will be available for free with a $50 order as a Sale-a-Bration item.  (You can now view both catalogs – just look for the links on the right sidebar).  For the gray colors, I used textured card stock, and every time I do I wish SU! would sell it individually in colors…sigh.  For some reason the darker gray (Basic Gray) looks bluish.  I did have to take the photo indoors, as it’s not only so cold outside, but very gloomy as well.  You can always click each photo for a larger view.

Thank you so much for stopping by this humble blog of mine and for those who leave comments – you are awesome!  I hope you all have a very safe and Happy New Year!!
