A Sea of Thanks

Just a simple card – almost a one-layer card but I popped up the fish. One of my faves from this year’s annual catalog – A Fish and a Wish. It also has the coordinating punch to cut those little fishies with.

A lost art?

I definitely do not think sending notes, letters, postcards, photos, etc. is a lost art – at least for me it’s not. I love receiving these types of communication in my mailbox, and I believe most people do as well. It’s really the art of sending that is the issue. It takes effort and intention. And these days especially, that is appreciated.

Whether you write a quick note, a long love letter, or a postcard from your trip to Scotland (which I recently found it takes 6 weeks to get to the U.S.!), the recipient feels the love. You add a homemade card and…it not only pleases the recipient, but also YOU.

Thanks x 3

Here’s a simple thank you card using the Biggest Wish stamp set and the Meadow dies, both of which are in the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog, which you can view by clicking here. I saw this layout on Cindy Schuster’s Instagram account – hers is much prettier than mine, though!

I colored the flowers & butterfly using the Stampin’ Blends, so easy!

Tip: to get the four colored strips to be completely even, I cut out a piece of regular copy paper the size of the area just inside the border of the Basic White Thick card base. I used 3 7/8″ wide by 5 1/8″ long. Then I cut one of each color to 1 1/4″ by 3 7/8″ and glued them all to the base. Trim, if necessary. Then I glued the whole thing to the card base.

Hey, hey!

I got the blog fixed – yay! I have to say, I don’t like change when it has to do with technology, haha.

Here’s a card I made awhile back – no one likes to have to make a card for this occasion, but since it’s made with lots of love and caring, I hope it matters even in a small way.

I used an old sentiment, but most everything else is current. AND the stamp set and dies are from the July-December Holiday Mini catalog! I used the Nature’s Harvest Bundle, item # 156813, but if you only wanted the dies or the stamp set, those are sold separately as well. View page 56 of the catalog for those item numbers. The link is on my right side bar, finally! Or you can just click here.

I took this photo with it just laying on top of my desk, and even though I took some from outside, this one looks more true color-wise, so I went with it. You cannot tell, but I used some Wink of Stella in gold on the stalks of wheat, which look pretty in person. 🙂

I have another post coming that includes a SALE that ends tomorrow, so don’t miss that one! Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Special birthday

My daughter’s birthday is coming up and she LOVES things that are foiled and have sparkle. The Love You Always Specialty DSP has beautifully foiled paper so I knew I had to get that out and get crackin’! Don’t worry – she will not see this post!

Quite a few things on this card are retiring in a week – on 5/3/21 so I wanted to make sure you get a look at the card before they’re gone for good. The supplies I used are linked below. If the link doesn’t take you to the item intended, it means it’s no longer available. But I can assure you there will be lots of other lovely items to choose from!

Edited to correct: the Lovely You stamp set is not retiring as the original post indicated.

The Tulip Magnolia tree is such a pretty tree. It has pink to purple flowers instead of white or yellow – what a gorgeous site to behold in the spring here in the south. Luckily I can see these each spring, but I will miss the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set with coordinating Magnolia Memory Dies when they retire!

But that’s not the only thing on my card that is retiring! The Many Medallions Dies and the Purple Posey Stampin’ Blends, which I used to color the blooms, will also be retiring. I also used the Peony Garden DSP to stamp the sentiment on. All these items, plus many more great choices are only available until 5/4/21 or until supplies last.

Check out the retiring items here.

The stamp set Rooted in Nature is one of my favorite stamp sets. It’s the first one I ordered when it came out and sadly is now retiring. I mean, I’m keeping it of course, but it I won’t be as apt to showcase it again on my blog because of that fact. There is also a coordinating die set, too! The sentiment is from a long retired set, but this simple layout allows for many different sentiments to be used. 🙂

You can view all the retiring items by clicking here – be sure to get them before they are no longer available or sell out, but for sure no later than 5/3/21. The items in the new catalog will be available to order on 5/4/21 , so check back soon!

Paper Blooms DSP

Here is a card I made using a free item out of the new Sale-A-Bration 2021 catalog – a 12″ x 12″ pack of Designer Series Paper called Paper Blooms. I love that this paper pack is double-sided with a great mix of beautiful florals as well as neutral patters to choose from. This paper pack coordinates with the Pretty Perennials Bundle from the new Jan. – July 2021 mini catalog, too. Click on my right side-bar to view any of the catalogs.

People are so creative!

Look at this adorable and timely card my friend Amanda D. sent to me! And how did she know this was one of my favorite paper packs of all time? I don’t think she did – we just happen to share similar tastes, I discovered. I miss you too, Amanda! Miss our stamping together. 🙂

I just had to share with you all. It looks like this type of card will be relevant for quite some time.

Here are 2 cards using the Plaid Tidings DSP in the Holiday Mini catalog. I LOVE plaid and these papers come in 6″ x 6″ so are perfect for creating cards. This above card uses a fall color palette and I just love it! The Plaid Tidings DSP doesn’t list the new In Color Bumblebee as one of the colors, but I used it and I think it works. I wanted to use the adorable Bumblebee ribbon and cardstock, so I just went for it!

The one above has a bit of a mistake on it – I used 2 different grays – oops! But I don’t mind, and actually in person it looks better because the white isn’t as pronounced as it appears here in the photo – it just evens it out I guess.

You are the best

Here’s a card I made using some items from the In Good Taste Suite, found on pages 122-124 of the 2020-2021 catalog.

I love everything about this suite. While this card has a feminine feel, the suite really has great options for masculine projects as well, mostly due to the amazing In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. I just love how everything coordinates. And the paper is a dream! There are also twice as many sheets in this pack than regular DSP packs. You can save 10% by ordering the Tasteful Touches Bundle, which includes the Tasteful Touches stamp set and Tasteful Labels Dies!

Since I don’t yet have the Rococo Rose Stampin’ Blends, I just stamped the flower in Rococo Rose ink, then very carefully added more color with the Blender Pens dipped in some ink. I either push the ink pad lid down to get some ink on the inside of the lid and use that, or it’s actually easier to just put a drop of ink from the ink refill inside the lid, then use the Blender Pen to pick up some of that ink. You do have to go easy on applying with the Blender Pen so as not to rough up the Whisper White cardstock. Prolonged rubbing will start to erode the paper a bit. A great alternative would be to use some Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper to stamp the flower on and then color it with regular ink.

The first thing my son said when I showed him this card was, “Isn’t it a little too early for Hallowe’en?” It’s really my fault – I shouldn’t have shown him the card. He doesn’t get it! He likes video games and he’s also super smart. What I didn’t get in smarts – I got in the need to create. Different strokes!

I used two stamp sets for the first time on this card – the Festive Post stamp set from the new mini catalog and the Buffalo Check background stamp, which has been around for awhile but I had never inked it up. The Festive Post stamp set ALSO has images for Christmas/Holiday/Winter and LOVE! It has several images that work perfectly with the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch, definitely one of my very favorites from the new 20-21 catalog!

The trees are from the Snow Front stamp set. I had used that stamp set last year – it’s a great set for winter. I also used a retired color, Delightful Dijon, for the brooms and cardstock with the sentiment. I just didn’t want a bright yellow and there isn’t a current color that I liked better. The bats look a bit blue in the photo, but they are indeed black! The card measures 4 3/4″ x 4″. Supplies used are below.

Anyway, this one came together quickly and now I have time to mail it out to get to the recipient on time! Yes, that’s a thing!
