I’m finally back with September’s stamp club projects. We had so much fun creating these items – did I mention it’s my favorite time of the month? Sure love these gals. Ok, up first is the amazing card I CASEd from the Über-talented Michelle Zindorf. This girls just totally rocks it with ink, and I found it actually quite easy to copy this one, because it uses sponges instead of a brayer, and her instructions are perfect. I liked the card so much and was so determined to do in in stamp club, I had to borrow the tree from Branch Out (it’s on the dormant list and you can still purchase it!) from one friend, and the bat from another. Now the bat is actually from a retired set, Autumn Apparitions, but the original card by Michelle uses the one from From the Crypt, which is in the current catalog, but I couldn’t find anyone who had it to borrow.
I saw these little sour cream containers made with the fantastic Night and Day DSP (Holiday Mini) and decided to try some of my own, using the Twick or Tweet stamp set. I think this was the girls’ favorite project, because they are easy, can be made with a variety of papers and embellishments, and can be used for so many occasions. I used Beate’s excellent tutorial on how to make these little cuties found here.
And finally, we made this card using the Lattice Bigz die as a mask. I just used a piece of a page protector (yep, just cut it up) folded in half to get a longer length of the pattern. You do have to place it very carefully on the die to get it to not cut the folded end, but it works like a charm when you get it right. If you don’t, just take tiny (and I mean, tiny) pieces of tape to hold your mask together. Lay your mask onto a piece of Bermuda Bay card stock and sponge away with the same color ink. Make sure to wipe off your plastic mask before removing it or you’ll get it all over you and then on your project. Card measures 3″ x 6″, and fits perfectly in the small open-end envelopes (item #107286).
Also, you’ll see my latest acquired item that is holding my cards? It’s an antique floral frog, which I got from my granny and it’s really old. Ok, maybe I didn’t get it from her after all. Maybe I just bought it from ebay ’cause I see so many of my stamping muses use them to hold their cards and I wanted one, too. I’m not sure if my granny even had one of these, and I really called her Gramma anyway. But since I don’t have a granny with one, I just went out and found one. I will say, though, that it did come to me with a wee bit of dried up leaves inside the sharp teeth. Way down, where I had to risk scraping myself up to dig it out. But I’m ok, thanks for asking. And thanks for stopping by today!

I love the projects. I really love the lattic die as a mask, it looks so awesome. I bought that die but have yet to run it through the machine. This might be the inspiration I was looking for.

Oh my Jackie. Love this set of projects. The spooky Branch out is great – I’ve got to see what I have that will work with that. Love sponging and masking creations (such great opportunitites to get covered with ink!). And of course the lattice is my fav die at the moment. I saw your use of it as a mask and wacked myself in the head since that was the one use I hadn’t thought of. Now I’ll have to remember to take some acetate with me over to Cheryl’s the next time I play with her die. Might even try folding it over an extra time or two so I can get an 8″ square piece of lattice for a mask for pages.
Love the frog too. Glad you didn’t impale yourself. I’d hate to see you risk blood poisening on our behalf. And I bet if your Gran had a frog she’d give it to you. Might not occur to her though. I picked up some old ones that a lady I was helping clear out her house threw out because she didn’t think anyone would want her old garden/flower arranging stuff. To her it was just worn out junk. To me it was pure gold. Go figure. Only problem. Since I moved to Oregon I can’t find the box I put them in when I packed up from my last house in California! Hm…maybe ebay has some more? Nope! I will find that box someday then I can have a classy card stand like the rest of my stamping friends.
