I spent yesterday, World Card Making Day busy with laundry, running kids to and fro, and working on projects for my Stampin’ Up! business. Then I sat down and worked on this card for my sister’s birthday. I was in my LSS and saw this Hello Kitty die and HAD to have it! I have loved Hello Kitty since I served a mission for my church in Japan, just before she became popular here in the U.S.
It’s a very simple card, but since the die was the focus I didn’t want to detract too much. You can’t tell by the photo, but the face is shimmery white card stock. I thought it would look a lot better than just plain white. After all, it matches her very glittery bow! Now while the card was simple, the die is not! I had to first cut out the image in the shimmery white, then the bow twice in both Regal Rose and then Pink Pirouette card stock. Then I also had to cut out the black whiskers. Everything is perforated, making it a bit of a challenge to keep everything in place. The whiskers were a bear to work with! But I think she’s still cute.
The bow was made glittery by applying first VersaMark ink, then Heat & Stick powder and heat set just until the powder became clear. It is important not to overheat this stuff. Then I applied Dazzling Diamonds and heat set oh-so-briefly again. Applying your glitter in this way assures it can never be taken off!
Thanks for stopping by today! Enjoy your Sunday!
I loved Hello Kitty as a little girl. She’s just so darn cute! Very cute card. Thanks for the compliment on my blog. Always love hearing what you think!
