I got my pre-order from the new catalog and made a simple card. I had the Mossy Meadow card base sitting on my desk, which was already embossed with the retired Sequins Embossing Folder. Sorry about that, but I mean obviously you could use something you already have.

I think the new Good Morning Magnolia bundle (stamp set and matching dies) is going to be pretty popular. Who doesn’t love flowers? And I’m not sure I’ve seen SU! do a magnolia stamp before, but even if they have, this set is stunning! It will be available for purchase on June 4th!

The “Thanks” sentiment is included in the set, but I used the also new Stitched Nested Labels dies. Wow, I just love this die set! Anything with the stitched look appeals to me, and I think the shape is so fresh.

Here are some a lot of tips when coloring the main image:

  1. I used markers to color the stamp set. It’s the best way to get the green, brown, and yellow where you want them. After making sure to color the stamp with good coverage, remoisten the ink with a few “huffs” of your breath. Then stamp on the Whisper White card stock.
  2. I find waiting until after the piece is completely colored the way you want it, before cutting it out with the die, makes more sense for ME.
  3. Use the small end of the marker to touch up parts that could use a bit more ink to darken.
  4. I heat set the ink with my heat tool, to help with possible smearing.
  5. Since this is a line drawn stamp, there’s not much color to it. I wanted more color, so used my blender pen, dipped in the ink on the inside of the ink pad lid after pressing firmly to pick up some color. Carefully apply to create a watercolor look.
  6. Be really careful to not rub over the Early Espresso ink, as best you can. That can muddy the Petal Pink application. I did not do a perfect job on this part, but was able to live with it.
  7. Don’t spend too much time with the blender pen on the paper, as it will begin to rub the paper enough to start to come off.
  8. I did practice a bit by stamping a couple of the leaves on a piece of scrap cardstock to get a feel for coloring them. Surprisingly, when I did the final piece, I only had to do it once – and I’ll be honest that is rare for me! I don’t think I’m very good at watercoloring so was pretty happy with the final result.

I did use the retired Chocolate Chip marker and ink pad to color the bottom of the flower stem. I would have used the Soft Suede color, but couldn’t find my marker, oops!

Serene Garden CASE

Dang, I hate to have to make sympathy cards. But I do prefer sending a handmade one. I put a lot of love into creating them, as I reflect on my feelings for the recipient. I think that’s likely true for all card-makers.

On the inside, I added a Balmy Blue dove from the same set because I feel like a dove goes well with this type of card. The sentiment is a long retired one, called Loving Thoughts.

This is a card I recreated from the 2018-2019 catalog using this stamp set and it is so lovely that I decided to CASE it. CASE = Copy And Share Everything. Some things I love about Serene Garden: The stamp set is so elegant and graceful. It has a matching die set as well. Can you see the embossing on the card base? Ah, so lovely. Both the stamp set and matching dies are retiring, so please grab it if you are thinking about it. If you buy the bundle, you’ll save 10%! 😉

Here’s another card I did for my son’s birthday. He loves not only cats, but the color green – the brighter the better! I did use a retired birthday sentiment, but it fit so well for this layout. The dots that make up the background are from the Petal Palette stamp set, which is retiring on June 3rd, sadly. I really love that set. The Tropical Escape paper is retiring, also.

The lighting on this one is a bit off – it’s hard to see the separation of the tag on the white cardstock. I had to leave right after creating this card so snapped a quick pic. I gave it to its owner later that night, so this is what I ended up with…sigh.

I struggle with making cards that can be sent to guys. I think cacti work great! I love the watercolor look of this stamp set – one of my favorites for sure.

I know I’ll get a lot of use out of the Rectangle Stitched Framelits dies! Three of the products used on this card are in the Occasions Catalog. Check it out before they’re gone! Click here to shop it now.

The first time I tried to order the Butterfly Gala Bundle in the Occasions Catalog, it was sold out 😦  I was excited when I got a notification that it was back in stock, and ordered it right away. You can also buy the stamp set and punch separately. Both options are listed below.

I just got around to using it after I saw this card and fell in love with the colors and layout and CASEd it! What a great card to make if you need several. I just love the colors of the papers in the Gingham Gala 6″x6″ DSP – any and all of them look great with each other, which takes a lot of the guesswork out of putting them together.

Don’t miss out on this great bundle and the sweet paper pack! They can be found in the Occasions Catalog, and you can click here to shop from this seasonal publication.

I showed these to my son and he didn’t appreciate all of the white space…but I do not mind it at all. I really often like it.
