Sunflower smiles

I CASEd this card, but made it a bit easier. The original card used 12 squares, die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Instead of using 6 black and 6 white, I used 6 white squares and added those on top of a piece of DSP, cutting in half the amount of time running paper through the Big Shot. The card on the left uses the gold mini sequin trim, and the one on the right is like the original, using some baker’s twine I had in my stash. I just love the versatility of the Eastern Medallions Thinlits dies – with a tiny bit of cutting, you can make a sunflower!

I thought I’d make a quick card using some of the new items I got from the new catalog. Starting with the embossing paste, I added a drop of Blushing Bride ink to a small amount of the paste and incorporated it well using a palette knife. Then I used a non-SU! stencil I already had (but there are some for sale in the catalog, see below under Pattern Party Decorative Masks), and using a low tack tape, positioned it over my card base so it wouldn’t move. Then just spread the paste over the stencil until all the little openings are filled. Carefully remove the stencil, and let dry. It is actually very easy to do, and it just looks lovely! You can add more ink to get a darker color, but this is just enough not to be the bright white is naturally is.

I just adore that mini sequin trim! The gold matches a couple of the Designer Series Paper packs this year. And that ribbon – oh my. I just love it. It’s double-sided, so there is a double row of dashes on the opposite side. Sweet!

I did stamp off the sentiment once to get an exact match to the card stock. Using the new ink pads (well, they’re not so new anymore), there are some colors that stamp darker than they should, IMO.
