I’ve been pretty busy lately and haven’t gotten to create very much. But I did need a gift bag so I decided to make one myself. I love making paper boxes, bags, and such! I took a sheet of Beau Chateau 12″ x 12″ DSP and since I knew what size bag I needed, I cut it down to 10″ x 11 1/2″. Score the longer side at 4″, 4.75″, 5.5″, 9.5″, 10.25″, and 11″. Then turn and score the other edge at 2″.
You can see from the 2nd photo that I then cut each of the 4″ sections off at 1″ and left the smaller 2″ flaps. This is because those 4″ flaps will be too big when you fold them up for the bottom of the box, but the 2″ flaps are just right. Cut off the 1/2″ section from the score mark down, completely.
I sponged the front 4 edges w/ Sahara Sand ink before assembling together. I always use the Tombo Multi Purpose glue to assemble my boxes! It works just as well at holding the paper together as sticky strip, yet it gives you some leeway time to get the papers in just the right place before it sets. The sticky strip is NOT forgiving in any way. Just sayin’.
I used the Beau Chateau side notes, a mini vintage tag, and Victoria crochet trim for a bit of embellishing. You may or may not have noticed, but I also used a 1 1/4″ circle punch to make a half circle (using another paper from the same DSP pack) for the front and back top closure, and tied w/ linen thread.
