I didn’t start out thinking I was going to use the new tinsel trim from the Holiday Mini, but after I finished the card, I was looking for something else to add to the ornament. I thought of the silver cord, which isn’t available this year, but we’ve seen it the last couple of years in the Holiday Mini (and I have a bunch left). Or the 1/8″ taffeta ribbon…almost did that. But I really wanted something very low profile for easy mailing…and I saw the roll of tinsel trim in my ribbon drawer, unopened. I just took a small piece and wrapped it around the ornament top and crossed it over in the back, and ta-da! I think it’s perfect! (Ok, I did end up making one with the 1/8″ Old Olive taffeta ribbon and it’s adorable, too! But the rest I made using the tinsel trim – way cute!)
I also used the music notes standard wheel – this was another item first on my list when the catalog came out. And I just used it! I wheeled a few lines, then punched out with the ornament punch. I’m telling you, this is a great card to mass-produce – if I do say so myself. I sponged lightly around the edges of the card, as well as the ornament, for a more vintage feel. Card measures 4″ square. I plan on mailing them in a standard envelope, rather than a square one to save $.
Hey! I may also spritz with one of the Smooch Spritzes! No sense doing it over and showing you, because you wouldn’t see the pretty sparkle in a photo. But I think I’m gonna do that! Thanks for stopping by today, and have a great weekend!

Wow, what a stunner of a card. This is so simple to do, but packs some punch. And. it would be easy to whip up a few of these in case you are a mass producer….

Really fun Jackie, the tinsel is perfect. You fooled me with the wheel, I thought it was part of the newsprint DSP. 🙂 Great stuff as always!
ALSO, thanks again for always leaving nice comments on my blog!

Silly question, but what is the item that you have your card standing up on? I’ve seen those around and I’m curious. Saw one at an antique store yesterday and still don’t know what it is…but maybe I need one!? :o)

Hi Karen – Thanks for the kind comment! The item you’re referring to is an antique floral frog, used to hold flower stems securely at the bottom of a vase or arrangement. It’s very heavy and made of some kind of metal. You can actually buy different sizes at Michael’s (I think…possibly JoAnn’s?), as seen in many of my more current posts. If you photograph cards and such, then I would say you need one! Thanks!
