Wow. I’m seriously in love with the the new Smooch Spritz sprays! Unfortunately, you cannot see it’s smoochy goodness in a photo, but it’s just lovely. For this card, we stamped the flower from the new Watercolor Trio stamp set in Melon Mambo ink, then sprayed with the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz. It adds a pretty sparkle – and I learned not to overdo it, or the paper will curl. I tried wiping off the excess, but it didn’t work well, so I had to start over. I CASEd the layout from fellow demonstrator Jan Tink here. I love her card, and decided to add the Smooch on mine and change up the colors. I love Melon Mambo with Kraft, and added the soon-to-be-retiring Blush Blossom. I am crazy for this color combo! I also spritzed Chocolate Chip on the card base for a little extra touch.
We also made a Father’s Day gift card holder. Our monthly training meeting was very timely, as a gift card holder was our make-n-take this month! I used this idea to make one for Father’s Day, or for any other masculine occasion. I used retiring colors again, – which I thought were perfect for a man or boy.
(Note: my son is a MUCH better gymnast than hand model, but we get what we can take, and I was grateful for the help in this shot.)
Here’s how to make this easy project: Cut your card base to 7 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ and score at 1 3/8″ & 4 1/2″. Using the cute, new Square Lattice embossing folder, emboss what will be the front. You can see that I wheeled an image across what will be the back, just because I had the matching wheel, it’s dang cute, and I felt like it. Unfortunately, you can also see where I missed a score mark, but it’s only on the back once folded. Oops. Adhere patterned paper to what will be the top flap. Next you need to make the inside that holds anything from gift cards, to money, to notes. To do this, take a regular sized envelope and seal it. Fold in half (while looking at the back, left to right, with the sealed flap on the inside), and glue just down the middle, basically along the sealed flap. Now cut just the edge of the folded part and what happens is that this becomes like a gusset, with the 2 openings. Now you can tell by the photo that the openings are where you just cut the fold, and the glue is just in the middle of the 2 openings. That’s the hard part – determining where to fold and cut everything. Now just glue both sides of the envelope to the inside. Use 3 stampin’ dimensionals along the bottom of your matted piece (I think you can figure out how to do that part) and adhere to the front. The flap tucks under this part, as it isn’t glued down. Adorable, isn’t it? I mean the idea, not necessarily mine. So cute and easy, and if you’re going to give a gift card, why not go to a little extra effort to make it special?
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
