Since there’s not much time left for Sale-a-Bration, I wanted to show something from the Happy Moments stamp set once more. This is one of the stamp sets that you can earn for free when you place a $50 order! Your choice of wood or clear mount.
I actually made these a long time ago for a super fun workshop for my dear friend Joy. I feel badly that I’d forgotten to post the directions here on my blog for the girls in attendance. But here it is now, along with photos of both choices of cards. No one actually chose the 1st one, because the cake image was more difficult to cut out – lol! And I don’t blame them one bit…you all know I like to cut images out, but not everyone does.
The cupcake was much easier to cut out, and it’s not a bad card. I just wish I had used Chocolate Chip ink instead of the Soft Suede, but didn’t want to re-do it. By the way, if you click on the close-up, you can really see the “frosting” so much better. But, the camera didn’t pick up the sparkle – too bad.
Basically, Joy wanted me to teach a technique to her friends. I found this one in my monthly Stampin’ Success magazine, which I receive as a great help each month. I feel much more confident as a demonstrator when I get beautifully written and photographed articles and samples for me to use! Have you thought about becoming a demonstrator? What are you waiting for?! Now is the time, during Sale-a-Bration because not only is the Starter Kit discounted, but you also receive a free stamp set (any price!). But it only lasts until March 31st. Contact me if you’re interested!
Ok, I digress. Back to the Frosting Technique. Here’s how to get the look.
* Mix 1 part white embossing powder, 1 part clear embossing powder, and 2 parts Dazzling Diamonds in a bag and shake well. Basically whatever colors you use, use equal parts. More on this below.
* Prepare stamped image. In my case, I used markers to color the cake different colors.
* Use Tombo Multi liquid glue and cover frosting part of the cake pretty thickly, working it into a texture using a small circular motion. Sprinkle your frosting mixture over and shake off excess.
* Heat with the heat tool until bubbles form, then take away the heat briefly ’til they go down. Heat again briefly to completely dry the glue.
* Don’t eat!
The original directions say to mix equal parts of embossing powder and Dazzling Diamonds and that if you want the frosting less sparkly that you can use more embossing powder and less DD. I wanted to be able to see through a little bit to the ink color, so that’s why I mixed 1 part clear & 1 part white, and 2 parts DD. I like that you can see the pink underneath.
I hope you like this technique and use it sometime. Link me up if you do, k? And as always, thanks so much for stopping by!

Hi Jackie,
Both cards are great!! I haven’t tried this technique yet but I think these cards would be super for my next M&T. We probably wouldn’t do the frosting thing but just stamping & cutting. Love your layout as usual. Sorry to be out of touch for so long. Thanks for all your feeds. Hey are you doing the recruit crew?…Barb

super cute Jackie and thanks for the how to! So can you use colored embossing or colored glitter for this or only the white and dazzling diamonds? You elude to this but I want to be sure. 🙂 TFS!
