Here’s a Christmas card I made for a workshop last weekend that I liked so well, and it was so easy to re-create, that I’ve made several for my own Christmas cards. You see, I make about 90 cards to send to family and friends who I don’t get to see at Christmastime, so I do need something simple to be able to recreate easily.
I think the details are pretty easy to figure out (click on photo for a larger view), but here’s a tip: The felt ribbon from the Alpine Originals Ribbon is so yummy and doesn’t fray, making it a good candidate for simply cutting off at the edge of the card. In fact, since I have so many to make, I just cut two 1″+ size pieces and taped them on each side of the card. The Top Note piece is popped up on dimentionals (foam dots) over the ribbon pieces so you can’t see or tell the ribbon doesn’t go all the way across!
Look below for the bonus birthday card and come back tomorrow and I’ll show you another of my mass-produced Christmas cards.
Stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Heard from the Heart; Paper: Ruby Red, & Very Vanilla card stock, Holiday Treasures DSP; Ink: Chocolate Chip & Ruby Red; Accessories: Top Note die by Sizzix, Alpine Originals ribbon, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds, button, silver cord, Stampin’ Dimentionals, mini glue dot
Since I had all the materials out, I decided to use the same layout for a birthday card for someone I call my “birthday buddy”. He’s a patient at the doctor’s office I work for. At the office, part of my job is to answer the phone and make appointments. I’m a friendly person, so when this gentleman made his first-time appointment and told me his birthdate, and it was the same date as mine (only 30 years to the day prior to mine), I commented that we had the same birthday. The appointment must have been made fairly close to our birthdays because on my birthday he brought me a poinsettia for my desk! I couldn’t believe it. Each year he calls me up at the office to wish me a happy birthday, or sends me a card. I send him a birthday card each year and here’s this year’s card. I send it out with the office address as the return address ’cause I don’t want anything to get weird with his wife or anything! But it’s just nice to know there are such nice people out there.
It’s a small thing to do – to acknowlege others’ joys and accomplishments, let them know you care and feel for them when they are down, or just let them know you are thinking about them. This is why I do what I do. Have a great day everyone!
