Rub entire votive with embossing buddy. This is very important! Next, very carefully stamp desired image onto the glass in VersaMark ink, rolling stamp left and right, if necessary, to get it all on the curve of the glass. I found it helpful to focus on pushing against the glass firmly and then rolling slowly left, then right.
Sprinkle image(s) with clear embossing powder. Heat the powder with your embossing tool until it turns clear, just as if you were doing it on paper. DO NOT TOUCH THE GLASS! It gets very hot. I set it onto a hard surface and used a sponge brush to steady and turn the glass from the inside. Let cool! It will take a few minutes.
Get some plastic gloves on for the next step (it helps to work in a doctor’s office!). Using Armour Etch cream (I got mine at Michaels), cover the entire outside of the votive by painting it on with the sponge brush. Make sure it is covered thickly. Wait 20 minutes and then wash off thoroughly.
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes; Ink: VersaMark; Accessories: clear embossing powder, embossing buddy, heat tool, Armour Etch (glass etching) cream
Next we made this card, which uses a half sheet of paper and the Top Note Bigz Die. Fold paper in half, like you would when you make a standard size card and line it up on the Top Note die just below the perforation mark and run it through the Big Shot. That way you get the fold at the top. Everyone seemed to enjoy decorating their card however they wanted!
Can you see the sparkle on these 2 cards? (You can enlarge the photo, as well as all photos, by clicking on it.) Using the 2-way glue pen and touching just a bit in random places on the trees, and on the insides of the snowflakes, you can then dip your finger into a jar of Dazzling Diamonds and rub it on the glue to make it sparkle! It makes much less mess than pouring it onto the card and tapping off the excess.
Stamps: Heard from the Heart, Lovely as a Tree, & Winter Post; Paper: Kraft card stock; Ink: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red & VersaMark; Accessories: Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon, Kiwi Kiss satin ribbon, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Top Note Bigz Die, Big Shot
We also made this Hallowe’en Treat Box, which I showed in this post. Everyone got to use whatever rub-ons from Chills and Thrills they wanted, as well as paper from the Ghostly Greetings pack, and various Hallowe’en stamp sets.
We had a fantastic time, as always! I can’t wait until next month!
