I was asked to design and teach a class with 3 different boxes and matching tags for our 3rd annual Craft Night at church on Nov. 14th. I gladly accepted! Since the particpants will be paying to make each item, I got to use whatever I wanted for supplies. Doesn’t it look like a Vintage Christmas?
I was asked to specifically do the Chinese Take-out Box that we learned from a class we took at CKC Buffalo a couple of years ago. I still had the pattern so that was easy. The difficult part was finding the paper for it. I decided against using Stampin’ Up! Designer Series paper as I felt it was too thin so I went to my LSS, and they helped me find this beautiful new Christmas paper. I used it because it matches the ribbon I HAD to use – the new 1 1/4″ Riding Hood Red/Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon in the Holiday Mini! I just love that ribbon! I also used the new Rope Twine, also in the Holiday Mini, the Top Note die on Very Vanilla folded in half for the tag. I used the retired Happy Winter tree in Kiwi Kiss, stamped 3 times without re-inking. I sponged the tag lightly in Close to Cocoa, as well as along the edges. I used the 1/2″ and 1/4″ circle punches from the same paper for the reinforcer on the tag. You can click on the photos to view them larger.
I also made a pillow box, which I downloaded the pattern from the SU! website on the demonstrator side. I love these boxes because they are perfect for holding gift cards! Last year I made several of these for gifts cards and the recipients loved them! I used the new Winter Post stamp set, also from the Holiday Mini to decorate it.
If you look closely, you can see the snowflakes are stamped in VersaMark ink. The “to: from” stamp is used on the back instead of a tag. The silver cord holds the skaters on the Riding Rood Red Taffeta ribbon – it is also back this Holiday in the mini!
And last, but not least I used the Basket and Blooms Bigz die to make a little basket and matching tag from the Ski Slope DSP, also from the Holiday Mini. It was super simple! The reindeer stamp is from the Winter Post stamp set (Holiday Mini) and the little flower – looks like a poinsettia to me) is from Season of Joy.
Oh what a terrible job I did on cutting that ribbon! Yikes! I am going to be getting those Craft & Paper Scissors soon! I can’t wait to teach this class! Thank you so much for stopping by today!
