Enjoying the spring weather

Here in Tennessee, the weather has been SO nice!  This card just screams spring, don’t you think?  I used the Springtime Vintage paper for my color scheme, but then feel wistful now that I didn’t distress with ink to make it more vintage-y.  Oh well.  I had already glued down the scalloped edging when the thought hit me.

Speaking of the dotted scallop ribbon border punch – it took me over half a year to realize I wanted that punch!  When it first came out, I didn’t think I liked it.  But I LOVE using it by tucking half of it behind card stock or paper.  It’s a sweet little added touch.  Funny how things grow on you like that.

I added the little vintage trinkets brads at the bottom after the card was finished – it looked a little empty.  I don’t like the brads showing through the back, so I cut the ends off with my Craft & Rubber scissors (works like a charm) and glued them down instead.

I have to say the tag wasn’t easy, although it wasn’t really hard.  I wanted a bigger one than the jewelry tag punch, but shorter than the one from the Lots of Tags sizzlits.  So I cut one out from Lots of Tags, then lined it back up, only moved it down about 1/3 of the way to cut off the flat end again.  It did mess up the perforation, so I just cut the perforation off and sanded the edges smooth.  It turned out pretty well, and I “Enjoy” it!  Card measures 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Soft and sweet

I wanted to use my new SAB stamp set, Sweet Summer, so made this simple card here, using the same layout as this card.  I stamped the floral and bee images in Soft Suede, then carefully colored them in with markers.  The bee’s wings have Dazzling Diamonds on them for a little sparkle.  I sponged the edges of the patterned paper with River Rock.  The great thing about this layout is that you can add any sentiment you choose - I bet you have lots of them you could use!  Card measures 4″ x 4″.  Thanks for stopping by today!

“No color”

When I showed this card to my daughter, she said she really liked it - one of the reasons is that it didn’t have any color, lol!  I said, “You mean they’re neutral colors”, and she said, “Yes!”.  Too cute.  Which is exactly the look I was going for.  Every color I used is one of the 10 Neutrals in Stampin’ Up!’s colors – 6 out of 10!

The white layer of this card was totally inspired by cards on Stampin’ Connection (SU! Demonstrator’s exclusive website) by Kelly Acheson and Wendie Waldman, using a shadow stamping technique.  I inked up acrylic Block D in Crumb Cake, stamped it, then layered the stamps from Nature Walk over it in different browns.  Using your blocks as a background stamp makes it come out different every time - so fun!

I kept the rest of the card very simple – no ribbon even!  I sprayed the River Rock card stock with Champagne Mist shimmer spray, which I had made.  You cannot see it in the photo.  Oh, the white flowers were cut out with the Big Shot, then stamped in Crumb Cake with the small background stamp from Clearly for You, then I sponged the edges in Soft Suede.  Thank you for stopping by today!

Using my glass glitter

I had received the Baja Breeze glass glitter at Leadership, and was so excited about it!  I just love the color.  But to be honest, I couldn’t imagine how I was going to use it.  I just didn’t see a lot of samples using the pretty stuff that wow’d me.  I didn’t want to just add it around a border, or make it into a line of bling.  I wanted something more.  I thought of putting it on a heart – it’s been done, and while it’s ok, I wanted something different.  So I punched out the owl’s vest/breast/whatever the heck that is, and glued some down on it with the Tombo glue.  It made for a dressier little owl, don’t you think?  Anyway, I liked him/her enough to add to this card.  I hope you like it, too.  Thanks for stopping by today!

I almost want to re-do this card – pull everything down a bit more to the bottom for balance, and re-stamp the sentiment (the last line smeared).  But I know my hubby won’t care about such things!

I had wanted to make a banner on a card for quite some time, when it came to me that it might be cute to do a heart one.  I used a very thin piece of card stock for the string, and I debated over how to attach it.  Ultimately, I applied glue onto the back of each heart and held it down over the “string”.  But I wonder if it might look better if I’d used a glue dot instead of it being so flatly stuck to the paper.  Well, in any case, it came out like I’d planned and I think it’s cute.

I sprayed the Crumb Cake card stock with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch – looks great in real life!  You can see it better if you click the 2nd photo larger.  And there are Dazzling Diamonds on the butterflies.  Have you made your Valentine a card yet??  Thanks for stopping by today!

About 64 seconds

That’s all it took to make this card!  It was inspired by a similar card I made for a card order, which took even less time!  I had used the part of the paper from the Botanical Gazette DSP pack with the bigger bird on it, and cut it out to fit onto the front of a 3″ x 6″ card base of Marina Mist.  But I mailed it out before taking a photo, so to re-create it, I used the same paper - this time without the bird image on it, and instead stamped the bird, along with the “no. 147″.  I stamped the sentiment onto the same paper, punched it out, sponged all the edges, and put it together.  That’s it.  Thanks for stopping by today!

{thank you ingredients}

One of the best events of Leadership is the Make ‘n Takes.  The projects we got were SO different and wonderful!  But I have a confession to make – I didn’t actually complete anything while there!  Now I know what my customers go through when they come to classes – the intimidation of those around you, the real URGE to just TALK, the desire to just get up and eat the treats!  Plus, I messed up on the card base on this one, so I had to do that part once I got home.  I could not properly execute the technique as instructed, so I opted to use the polka dot embossing folder instead.  I like it better, and was easier for ME to do.

Ok, onto confession #2 – it’s the ONLY project I’ve finished so far!  My goal is to get them all done to show you, because they really are great!  We received the Clearly for You stamp set – yea!  The piece with the raspberry sprig is done with the Petal Card XL double punch.  The circle behind that is crumpled up and distressed w/ Soft Suede ink.  Oh, and the little tag – here’s a new tip on how to make this cutie – stamp your sentiment, then punch out using a 1″ circle punch.  Then just cut above and below the image straight across.  Tada!  Cute, right?

I can’t promise when, but I will eventually get the rest of the projects done and posted here on the old blog-o.  Thanks for stopping by today!
