Well, they are finally here! The 2 projects we did for April. First off I knew I wanted my girls to make this card, made by fellow demonstrator Jackie Topa, as it is just so unique! I kept it pretty much the same, except that I added ribbon and changed the card base to one of my favorite retiring colors, Bordering Blue. I just love this cross between blue and grey and will miss it when it’s gone. You can find Jackie’s how-to here.
Our 2nd project was a bonnet shaped card. I’ve been seeing them around the internet so decided to draw my own shape. Here are 3 I made using different colors and a couple of different embossing items. The first one I made I used the Perfect Details Texturz plate. Since you have to run it through using 2 layers (the bonnet is too large when opened to fit through the Big Shot), it has less of an impression. It is quite faint. On the 3rd example I sprayed the front with a fine mist of rubbing alcohol before running it through, so the impression is better. The 2nd example I used the Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder, which makes a much better impression, but you also get an impression of the edge of the folder. I found when I turned the card back to the “inside”, the impression was still good, but the lines from the edge were less visible. It’s almost undetectable. I really like the embossing along the bottom of the card!
I cut out 3 or 4 flowers in patterned paper with the XL Fancy Flower punch, inked the edges then crumpled them up, and added a brad. The ribbon was just folded in an “x” shape around and adhered it with some double-sided adhesive (SNAIL). The tag is from the Lots of Tags Sizzlits. If you click on each photo, you can see the difference in texture. If you have any questions about any of the items I used on these bonnet cards, please just ask! I’ll only list the ingredients for the picket fence card here today, as I promised I’d get this posted on Monday, and I just barely made it!
Edited to add: I’ve had requests for help on the bonnet card. And as much as I’d like to, I just am not able to do much other than tell you I folded a sheet of card stock in half and just hand drew the hat with the top of the brim on the fold. I am not able to scan or make a .pdf file at this time. When and if I get the capability and time, I’ll try to do more and edit this post again. Thanks for your interest and for your understanding!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Hey there Jackie Girl! Love the hat card & the picket fence one too. Can you tell us gals how wide your cute hat is at the widest part? Top to bottom measure would be nice too. Just curious. Can you fit the card in a large 8-3/4″ x 5-3/4″ envelope? Perfect for Mother’s Day!! Thanks…Barb
