Friends rubon with flowers3

I had nearly forgotten about this little sizzlit die to make a flower border and decided to dust it off and use it on my Flock Together paper.  It’s the “friends” rub-on I don’t like so much because it’s so hard to see.  I like the rest, especially the flowers.  I used vintage book print and a button from one of my most favorite blouses.  It was my sisters once upon a time and then became mine and I wore the heck out of it.  It just is worn out, so I’m using the buttons now.

I am so perplexed about how to get colors to photograph true.  In order to get the green to look better, I enhanced the color, but then it made the blue flower border more bright than it actually is.  So, imagine the card with less bright flowers along the bottom.  Oh brother.  Card measures 3″ x 6″.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Stamps:  none

Paper:  Kraft cs, Flock Together DSP, vintage book print

Ink: non-SU! linen color ink

Accessories:  button, brown scrappers floss, Flowers sizzlit die & Large Daisies Bigz die and Big Shot by Sizzix, Loop to Loop rub-on

RAK from Barb Mann2  (click for larger image)

And the next one is from my sweet friend, Barb.  She doesn’t have a blog, but she puts a lot of her amazing work on her SU! website so be sure to check it out!  Thanks, my friends!

And if you’re interested in some blog candy, look no further than Beatriz’ blog.  I can only imagine that it’s going to be great – I mean look at her beautiful creations!  I know I’d like to win anything she’s giving away!

Birds and Birthdays

Pink Flamingo Birthday2Here’s just another idea of what you can do with a paper sampler.  I did a paper share of 6″ x 6″ sheets of the new papers in the current catalog awhile back and kept one for myself.  Since I’m primarily a card maker, having this size works great.  When the new catalog comes out, be sure to check back for my new paper share so you can have a sample of each piece and make some creations of your own!  Card measures 5″ x 5″.  Thanks for stopping by today!

{Celebrate You ingredients}

Stamps: Think Happy Thoughts, A Little Birthday Cheer

Paper: Whisper White textured, Real Red, Cameo Coral & Whisper White card stock, Pink Flamingo DSP

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Summer Sun

Great Friend WITP2This card is the same layout as yesterday’s - I just rearranged the elements inside the Top Note die, and the die is oriented the opposite.  I made this one because as I was playing with the pieces on the last card, I took away the Top Note piece and the elements landed on top of the gray patterned paper.  I thought they looked so good on that paper, that I decided to make another one.  And I had already cut out 2 of everything else, so it was easy to do.  I changed up the background paper to one from Walk in the Park, which is in the Occasions Mini catalog.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Great Friend UA2…that I can use up my beautiful patterned papers before they retire at the end of next month!  Oh how will I justify buying the new, amazing, and gorgeous new papers that I’m sure will be coming out in the new catalog??

Well, here’s a start I guess.  I have been wanting to use this polka dot paper since I got the Urban Oasis DSP and finally did last night.  I think it’s pretty self-explanetory, but feel free ask any questions you may have and I’ll be sure to get back to you.

Come back tomorrow for another card I made.  Have a fantastic week and thanks for stopping by!

Folded dress2I really liked these 2 projects we did.  Since one of the promotions this month is all about paper, I focused on that.  This first card is done using a template I found here.  Note:  It seems that SCS has pulled the template from their website.  Since this template was not mine, I do not know where you might find it now.  Sorry for the inconvenience.   I cut my pattered paper into 6″ x 6″ and ran it through my my printer (to print on the “wrong” side).  Cut out, score and fold.  I had some sweet lace I had picked up somewhere and attached it to the bottom of the skirt.  I used glue dots on the 3 panels to adhere the skirt to the card.  I sponged the edges of the Very Vanilla card stock just a bit.

Friends large matchbox2Next, I made this matchbook box, which I found on Kelly’s blog.  Instead of using the DSP for the bottom of the box, I used a coordinating color of card stock.  I wheeled Friendly Words onto white card stock in Chocolate Chip.  Since SU! doesn’t sell the large cartridge in CC, I bought an uninked one and inked it up myself.  I’ve used this wheel in CC many times, so it was worth it.  Now, had I had that beautiful Sweet Slumber Specialty Paper, I would have made another box with it and wheeled the Nursery Letters for the band, and decorated for a baby.  Can you just see some cute socks, etc. in this box as a baby gift?  Well, the paper is still on sale, and I’m going to order it and show you!  Click images to view larger.

Lemonade AwardI received an award today from my friend Juanita – thank you so much girl!  Juanita is an amazing stamper and likes to stretch her creativity.  She is so generous with her comments to my blog and I thank her very much!

I’d like to pass this award on to so many bloggers – I follow so many of you guys out there!  But today I’m passing this one along to a few blogs that I recently discovered.  You may already know who they are, but they are relatively new to my haunt.  Each one of them inspire me so much!  Please visit them if you have time and see what I mean!

I recently discovered Courtney’s blog.  I really like her stuff!

And here is Mary’s blog – oh how I want to CASE so many of her ideas!

And BJ’s blog - well you can tell she’s NOT new!  What a fantastic SU! demo she is!

Baroque Motifs with bird2Thank you to everyone who stops by, whether or not you leave a comment, but especially if you do.  It really makes my day!  And now, onto the card….

I had to keep this one really simple because it’s another one we’ll do at a Stampin’ Up! workshop.  Can you believe I didn’t use a butterfly??  Well, just so you know, I DID cut out the most beautiful one, but then thought I should change it up a bit and use my other favorite, the bird from Birds & Blooms sizzlit from Sizzix.  My husband liked the wing to be the backside of the paper used on the bird.  I like it ok, but was really drawn to using the same side.  Oh well, that’s the beauty of double-sided paper!  Don’t forget, it’s on SALE now!  Click here for details.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of your week!

I want to wish all of you mothers, and women who mother, a very happy Mother’s Day!  I hope you were honored for your good, mothering qualities that we as women are given.

A new card is at the end of this post, but I just had to share this card from my son.  He’s 14 and made this in church today.  On the front, he feels he has to point out that he drew a flower…not that it looks like a cat or anything!

Mothers Day card from Dallin 2009

Inside, a nice sentiment, then what cracks me up is that “obviously” with an arrow pointing to his name!

Mothers Day card from Dallin 2009 inside

The back is my favorite as he shows his wit and attention to details, such as his initials, along with the “A Dallin card”.  Too cute!  And then did you notice the price w/ bar code on the bottom?  A very expensive card at just under $1 billion!  I’m glad he thinks I’m worth it!  Best Mother’s Day card I think I’ve ever received!  Thanks, kiddo!Mothers Day card from Dallin 2009 back

Fifth Avenue Floral Congrats Grad2Here’s a card I made for my upcoming workshop.  I just love that you can make patterned paper with stamps with any colors you want to suit your needs.  Super simple, but then again that’s what you want when you are teaching someone for the first time how to stamp, or when you are in a hurry, or when you need to make a bunch!  Instead of stamping a sentiment in white ink and embossing with white embossing powder, I decided to keep it simple and use a rub-on.  The Chit Chat rub-ons are great because they offer not only a huge variety of sentiments, but they also come in white and chocolate chip.

Thank you all so much for stopping by today!

Here are some cards I received as RAK’s recently and I am just getting around to sharing them.  I just love them all and am so thankful for them…they sure make me smile!  Thank you all so much for your generosity and friendship!

My friend Katie sent me this card and amazing Carousel Notes Purse!  How very generous!  (I think Jan T. is the original designer of this creation and you can find her tutorial here.)

And here’s a card my friend Cori made me when I was so sick with HIVES!  It sure cheered me up!

And this amazing creation is from Carla  – wow!  Look at that sewing!

Spring card by Carla P

And you may have noticed I finally changed seasons on my blog header - no more winter!  I went out yesterday with my camera and took some spring photos.  The one I chose is bittersweet for me – because I love this tree so much and yet it is dying.  I am simply crazy for Japanese Maples (probably because I lived in Japan for 3 years) and have several in my yard.  Here in Buffalo, we can’t grow all of the varieties, so most people have the red ones because they are so hardy.  So, because I have to be different, and because green is my favorite color, I seek out only green Japanese Maples for my yard.  The one shown on my header is a Wou nishiki.  It’s one I had a landscaper find and put in for us and at first I was upset because it wasn’t one of the ones I gave him on my list!  But it soon became my favorite of all and was in our front flower bed for a few years.  2 years ago my husband and I moved that 7 foot tree all by ourselves to the backyard because it was dead on almost one whole side.  We hoped the good half would live and we turned it so that’s the side we could see.  But sadly, this year only part of the bottom of the tree is alive.  It will likely not have leaves next year and will be removed.  So while I search for a replacement, I have many other trees to enjoy!  Thank you for stopping by today!

I asked my husband to pick a number between 1 and 36 and he chose 13, which means the winner is Jennifer, who said,

“What a pretty card! Yay for 55,000 and yay for Kristen. Its okay to be obsessed….I am.”

Congratulations, Jennifer!  Please send me your address and I’ll mail your goodies out to you!

Thank you so much to everyone who came by and left such nice comments to me and to Kristen!  You are all so very sweet to take the time.  Have a fantastic evening!

More butterflies

butterfly-thanks2I cannot stop using the Beautiful Butterflies die from Sizzix!  And again, I’m using the Walk in the Park patterned paper from the Occasions Mini catalog.  I needed a very simple card for a possible make-n-take for a workshop I have coming up.  I may do a version of this, minus the eyelets and button and use simple brads instead.  I’m still undecided.  Anyway, while for the most part I like this card, I feel it’s lacking something – probably in the middle.  But for now it will do.  Note: the butterflies on the right are GRAY, not bluish gray!  Grrrrrr!

Don’t forget that you have until Thursday at 3pm ET to enter my blog goodies give-away!  You must comment on the post below to be eligible, if you haven’t already.  As always, I thank you for stopping by and saying “hi”!  Take care!
