Here’s my card for Cindy’s Terrific Tuesday Challenge, which is to use a color you don’t often use or maybe that you don’t like. (Please click to view larger). I have never used Handsome Hunter before, ’cause I’m not drawn to this color at all, and since I don’t even have any of this color in ink, I had to go with card stock only. I paired it with one of my favorite colors – River Rock, as well as white. There’s some More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie on the bird, which brings in more color. I will say that in the photo the color doesn’t look like Handsome Hunter, and there really isn’t very much of it to see anyway.
I also decided to participate in the challenge I gave to my stamp club, which is to use a flower from the Pretties Kit on a project. I hope this will inspire them to participate again! (I glued the stem carefully with the Tombo Mono glue).
I wheeled the Stems & Silhouettes (which comes free when you order the Wonderful You stamp set until 4/30) in River Rock ink on the plain side of the printed paper from the Ginger Blossom collection and then tore each side for a little texture. I used my Watercolor Wonder crayons and a blender pen to color the bird, cut it out and popped it up on Dimentionals. A little bit of Basic Gray under his feet ground him. I wish I had placed the brads a little closer to the matted image, but I didn’t want to re-do! Card size is 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.
I’m glad for the challenge to make something with a color I don’t care for as it stretched me a bit, which is always good. Thanks, Cindy for asking me! I hope you’ll try it, too! Thanks for stopping by!

Jackie,
I love the way the wheel pattern combines so well with the designer paper. Your coloring on the bird is terrific! Thanks for sharing your inspiration with us. The flower is so so cute too!
I just love everything about this card, even the Handsome Hunter.
Hey Jackie!
I NEVER use Hunter! LOL
It looks great how youve paired it with River Rock. At first the pic looked like So Saffron! And that looked good too!
Thanks for sharing!
This is a gorgeous card! I love this color combo. I never use Hunter either, I think it looks great! I may even see if I have some to make a card with. Love that bird and the flower, very clever. TFS!!
This turned out so pretty!! I love those colors, and your sweet bird!
Wow! Jackie, this card is gorgeous!
Hugs and smiles
