Sale-a-Bration is coming (see this post for more information) and I made 2 birthday cards with the Lots of Thoughts stamp set using the same layout the Ice Skater girl card (see this post) ’cause I like it so much. I can’t get away from using River Rock on my cards these days; I just wish I could get it to photograph its true color! I sure will miss that color when it retires in July…sniff, sniff. I used the textured RR cardstock on these 2 cards since you can get four 3″ x 6″ cards from one 12″ x 12″ sheet. I love that. No waste. I would have made different sentiments on these but since I always need birthday cards, I decided to use the “Cheers to You” on both. I really tried to use something different, but practicality won out.
For the first card I used the Bali Breeze DS paper and it looked a little empty somehow as I was designing it so I added the Old Olive strip of paper and gave it a row of piercings. I also did that because I really wanted to use the wider 5/8″ Old Olive Grosgrain ribbon but there isn’t technically any Old Olive in that paper and needed to put that color in somehow. I also stamped the “Happy Birthday” and “Cheers to You” in it to tie it all in. I really love the new 5/8″ grosgrain ribbons and wish they made it in every single color. I think I’d own it ALL!
Stamps: Lots of Thoughts, It’s Your Birthday; Paper: Textured River Rock cs, Whisper White & Old Olive cs, Bali Breeze DS paper; Ink: Old Olive; Accessories: Scallop Circle punch, 1 3/8″ circle punch, 5/8″ Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, mat pack, paper piercer, Stampin’ Dimentionals
For the second card I wanted to use the River Rock patterned paper from the Ginger Blossom DS paper and decided that tearing the bottom edge helped. Of course, I LOVE tearing, so I do it when I can. Since there isn’t any 5/8″ wide grosgrain ribbon in River Rock, I knew I couldn’t do an all-over tonal look, so had to bring in another color, hence the Chocolate Chip ribbon. I used the On Board Blossoms & Basics chipboard flower as a pattern. I did not attach the Apple Cider DS paper to the chipboard – I’m just too much of a hoarder! Instead I cut it out and popped it off the “Cheers to You” sentiment and then popped that off the card, too. I forgot to sand the edges before attaching it to the card, dangit. Oh well. I also punched the flower from the Three for You punch box using Chocolate Chip ink to complete.

what beautiful creations…love them!!
These are so clean and simple and gorgeous!
Both of these are so pretty, and I love your color choices and wide ribbon!!
